We send a six-digit code to confirm your number is real. That's the only text you'll get — reading bills and answering happens here.
Your number is stored as an irreversible hash, never in readable form. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end.
Everything on this page is optional — your name, email, address, district, age, sex and language. You can leave all of it blank and use Consensus exactly as fully: read the bills, answer, write feedback, and be counted. Nothing here is required to take part, and nothing is inferred or bought to fill in what you leave empty.
Your phone number is the one thing we need, and it is never stored — it is kept only as an irreversible hash, which is what makes your answers pseudonymous. Anything you do fill in is shown back to you here, can be removed one field at a time, and is deleted with your account.
Used to group responses by district and to show how your own representative voted. Optional — answers without a district are still counted, just not broken out by one.
Your address is saved so you don't have to type it again each time, and so you can see and correct what we matched you to. It is used only to look up your congressional district. It is never attached to your answers, never shown to anyone else, and never leaves this product. Remove it whenever you like — that keeps your district, or use "Clear what I've said about myself" below to drop both.
Optional, like everything else here, and separate from the rest because it identifies you rather than groups you. A name is only ever used to sign a letter you choose to send to your own representative — it is never attached to your answers, never shown to anyone else, and never appears in any published count.
Leave the box unticked and we send you nothing — the address is then held only so a letter you generate can carry a reply-to. The email channel is still being built, so nothing is sent yet either way. Verification stays on SMS, and this box does not change that.
All optional, all self-declared, used only to break the counts into groups. Race is not collected anywhere in this system.
